Rhyolite is an extrusive felsic (silicic) volcanic rock. The high silica content and lower temperatures of rhyolite magma result in high viscosities and violent eruptive styles.
Rhyolite is rarely found as lava. Instead rhyolite tuff and ash falls are more common.
